Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal released spring 2025 assessment results in math and English on Wednesday.

The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction is concerned about the state's math test scores compared to national averages.

The test scores show more students are not reaching what would be considered “basic” achievement across subject areas.

STEP, or Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, is taken each year by students in grades three through seven.

It's the first Nation's Report Card since the Trump administration began making cuts to the U.S. Education Department. The scores reflect the state of student achievement in early 2024.
