At the Los Angeles ceremony, which ostensibly honored the West Coast branch of the WGA, host Joel Kim Booster began—as so many awards ceremonies have this season—with an acknowledgment of the disastrous political climate and January's devastating LA-area fires.

Here are the winners of the 2025 Writers Guild Awards Awards, which were handed out February 15 in dual ceremonies in Hollywood and Manhattan.

HBO/Max led the night with six wins, led by the “Hacks” honors, as well as with “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” “The Great Lillian Hall” and “Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die.” FX/Hulu was next, with three wins, all for “Shōgun.”

The 2025 Writers Guild Awards took place in New York tonight (with a satellite West Coast ceremony) and, surprise, it was more good news for Anora. Before that, though, Roy Wood Jr. delivered a barn-burning monologue, taking shots at Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Justin Baldoni during what he deemed the “last Black History Month.”

Screenplay nominees for this year include Jesse Eisenberg for "A Real Pain" and Sean Baker for "Anora," while television and streaming nominees range from "Shōgun" to "Hacks."

With a few weeks left until the Academy Awards, almost all the big prizes for the 2025 awards season have been handed out, with only a few more left - next up are the biggest screenplay awards. The Writers Guild of America has announced the winners of the 2025 WGA Awards.

The Writers Guild Awards are underway in both Los Angeles and New York, as the WGA recognizes the best of 2024’s writing in television and film. This year’s annual event bicoastal event is being at the Beverly Hilton for the West Coast edition and at New York’s Edison Ballroom for the East Coast ceremony.
