Storms across the southern and western portions of the United States continue to impact flight schedules on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, causing delays and cancellations as people head back home after the holiday season.

A day after tornadoes broke out across Texas and Louisiana, a stretch of the Southeast encompassing Texas, northern Florida and the Carolinas could see flooding rain, hail and tornadoes from Friday on through the weekend,

Severe thunderstorms and an outbreak of tornadoes could disrupt holiday travel Saturday. More than 2,700 flights were delayed.
