Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney will coach an England squad made up of athletes and celebrities for Soccer Aid 2025 at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney returns to the pitch after another attempt at retirement, this time to play for and co-manage Soccer Aid's charity England team alongside boxer Tyson Fury.

This year, the UNICEF charity football match has also confirmed sporting legends Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney will be joining the England coaching team, with Rooney also promising to lace up his boots and come out of retirement for the game.

Fury, 36, announced his retirement from boxing in January – though not for the first time. The news followed his second straight loss to Oleksandr Usyk, who outpointed the Briton in May and December in two title fights. Those results marked the first defeats of Fury’s career.

Wayne Rooney was thrilled as he announced his return to Soccer Aid. The former Everton FC striker has been confirmed as a player/manager for the England team at the annual charity event.
