Several civil society groups and student organisations of the Kuki tribes have condemned what they call "barbaric actions" of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a day after 10 men from the Kuki tribes were killed in Manipur's Jiribam district.

The Young Mizo Association (YMA) has stated that the deceased were “innocent” victims, condemning the killings as “murders” and demanding a probe by the Centre

The armed militants had also attacked the Borobekra Police Station and set three-four abandoned houses belonging to the Meitei community in Jakuradhor, on fire.

Suspected Kuki militants burnt to death two Meitei people in Jiribam region of Manipur, media reports said. The two dead people are aged 76 and 54. Kuki militants also abducted three women aged 60, 31, and 25 and three children aged eight, two and a half years, and an eight-month-old, reported UNI news agency.

Kuki-Zo council called for a “total shutdown” to protest the encounter of 11 militants, who it claimed as “village volunteers”.
