Tropical Storm Fernand is expected to continue on a north-northeasterly path over the central Atlantic Ocean Monday and Tuesday and pose no threat to land, the National Hurricane Center said early Monday.

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Fernand formed in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday, but it was far from land and forecast to remain over the open ocean. The Miami-based National Hurricane Center reported that the storm was located about 405 miles (655 kilometers) south-southeast of Bermuda.

Tropical Storm Fernand was approximately 300 miles southeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph as of 5 a.m.
