Good morning and welcome to our coverage as an eight-week trial opens this morning at the High Court in London where Prince Harry will allege that the Sun - and its owner News Group Newspapers (NGN) - were involved in unlawful newsgathering. The former Labour MP, Lord Watson, is also involved in the case and claims NGN used voicemail interception.

Prince Harry’s trial against the publisher of The Sun follows two decades of legal drama over the cutthroat practices of the British press in the days when newspapers sold millions of copies and shaped the popular conversation.

The case, which would represent the last major legal reckoning for victims and perpetrators of Britain’s phone hacking scandal, was adjourned until Wednesday.

Prince Harry's barrister said there was potentially a "good prospect" of an agreement that would save the court time.

The trial against News Group Newspapers (NGN, with former U.K. politician Tom Watson, the ex-deputy leader of the Labour Party being the other remaining claimant alongside Prince Harry in the case, is expected to last around six to eight weeks.
