North Texas experienced its first winter storm of the year last week, when snow and wintry precipitation fell across the region. Over the 24-hour period on Jan. 9 and 10, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded 2.6 inches of show, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

Ray predicts 2 to 5 inches of snow could fall for parts of the Metroplex. Up to 8 inches is forecasted to fall in counties closer to the Red River. "Not all of this will stick at first but expect our first accumulating snow in almost a year," Ray said.

FOX 26 Chief Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz shares an update on the arctic blast headed toward Texas and our chance for actually getting snow along with hazardous ice.

The current weather pattern in central North Carolina keeps the frigid air around through the end of January, giving us a higher chance of getting a weather system to bring us winter precipitation.

Arctic blast number two will arrive early Saturday morning and it will stay cold through the middle of next week. There is a chance for more wintry precipitation next week.
