Fauja Singh, an Indian-born athlete who was believed to be the world's oldest marathon runner, has died after being hit by a car. He was 114.

Fauja Singh, regarded as the oldest person and the first centenarian to complete a full marathon, has died at the age of 114 after he was struck by a vehicle near his village in Punjab, India, media reports said.

Competing in London in 2011, he claimed to be 100, though his exact age remained a mystery. “I run while talking to God,” he said in explaining his endurance.
