Eversource says it wants to decrease gas bills by 10% for Massachusetts customers in March and April. On Monday, Eversource filed the counterproposal in response to the state's Department of Public Utilities request that energy companies cut gas rates by 5%.

The state’s two biggest utilities said Monday they will reduce gas bills for the next two months, but recoup the costs later this year.
