Lawmakers and Gov. Tony Evers raced to pass the budget before action in Washington D.C. cuts off Wisconsin hospitals from more than $1 billion in potential federal funding.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed the state’s budget into law in the early morning hours Thursday after the state Legislature passed the bill during sessions that spanned all of Wednesday with the Assembly running into early Thursday.

Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and Republicans who control the state Legislature have reached a deal on a new two-year budget.
