Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) slammed California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) for his handling of the Los Angeles protests that have ignited over the Immigration and Customs Enforcement

President Trump ordered National Guard troops to the area after clashes over immigration-enforcement operations.

Two Republican in Congress are requesting documents and communications between Newsom, Bass and law enforcement over the protests.

"California may be first - but it clearly won't end here." Newsom says Trump's decision to deploy the California National Guard without his support should be a warning to other states.

Newsom said he's been forced to think about what would happen in the event the Trump administration did secure a federal warrant for his arrest.
