Paul H, Thank you for the question! No - visitors are not able to hold any of the eagles. However, as others have noted, you are able to get very close (within 4-5 feet) of the eagle ambassadors on display. As for photos, you can take as many photos as you like in the display area and can certainly get photos with the eagles in the background, though we do not offer any arranged photos with an eagle.
We were thinking of driving down this coming weekend but wondering if it is better to wait until winter for better viewing?

We have been there only during the winter and have seen many eagles and not so many....in February when the river was frozen except for a few spots there were eagles everywhere trying to grab fish in the open water. This March when the river was more open then the eagles seemed to be less notable.....we happened to see more on the way home along hwy 61.
We're going to arrive right around 11, in time for the info session, and I was wondering if we can bring a picnic lunch to eat on site or does anyone have a good recommendation for a nearby place with a picnic table? Also, can we leave and re-enter the facility? Thanks! We're looking forward to our visit.
A:
Hello, Yes - there are a couple of picnic tables outside of the National Eagle Center along the river front walking/biking path. They are public picnic tables.
My daughter and I are planning a trip to the area within the next couple of months. We want to visit you and also try to get some good eagle pics in the wild while they are wintering in the area. Her spring break is late March and with the winter we are having I am afraid that many of the wintering eagles may have already headed out by then? Can you offer any perspective based on historical data?
A:
They say at the centre that because the river doesn't freeze there that there are eagles all year round
